What You Need Before You Start

  • A Brilliant Directories website. Don't have one yet? Start a free trial.
  • A WordPress website you can log in to as an administrator, running WordPress 5.8 or newer.
  • WordPress hosting that runs on Apache or LiteSpeed, which covers most popular hosts. If you're not sure, your hosting company can tell you.

How to Set It Up – Step by Step

In Your Brilliant Directories Admin

  • Step 1 – Open the Domain Manager.
  • Step 2 – Choose Change Domain, then pick My WordPress Website.
  • Step 3 – Enter the address where your directory should appear on your WordPress site.
  • Step 4 – Click Get My License Key. You'll get three things to copy: your website URL, a one-time key, and your folder.

In Your WordPress Admin

  • Step 5 – Install and activate the Brilliant Directories Site Connector plugin. Find it under Plugins » Add New.
  • Step 6 – Open BD Site on WP in your WordPress menu.
  • Step 7 – Paste in the three values you copied, then click Save / Install.

That's it. Visit the public link shown on the settings page, and your whole directory is running at your own WordPress address.

Good to Know

  • Your WordPress site stays untouched. The plugin only works inside the folder you choose. Your pages, posts, and WordPress admin keep working as normal.
  • Pick a folder name that isn't already in use. Keep it simple, like directory, members, or find-a-pro. Use letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores only. It can't match an existing WordPress page.
  • Using Google reCAPTCHA? If your login or forms show an "Invalid domain" message, add your WordPress domain to your reCAPTCHA settings in Google. The plugin's reCAPTCHA Domain check will tell you if this is needed.
  • Nginx hosting needs an extra step. The plugin sets everything up automatically on Apache and LiteSpeed. On Nginx, your host or developer will need to add the routing.
  • Deactivating doesn't take your directory offline. Deleting the plugin removes the folders it created, so make a backup first.

Get Started

  • Open Domain Manager in your Brilliant Directories admin and choose My WordPress Website.
  • Copy your website URL, one-time key, and folder.
  • Install the Site Connector plugin, paste in the three values, and save.
