BD Quick Tips – Intro (00:00:00)
- The BD Quick Tips section will cover a list of featuresDavid, which are part of the Brilliant Directories platform, and are considered really awesome (00:00:06).
- The features to be covered in the BD Quick Tips are simple and can be found within the actions drop-down menu for individual members (00:00:17).
- All the features discussed in the BD Quick Tips can be accessed through the actions drop-down menu in the My Members and then Search Members section of the admin area (00:00:25).
1) Member Listing Custom Footer Code (00:00:34)
- Member listing custom footer code allows adding custom content, such as paragraphs, images, and other code, to the footer section of individual members’ profile or listing pages, which can be accessed by going into “My Members”, finding the individual member, and using the “Quickedit” option in the actions dropdown (00:00:34).
- The custom footer code can be used for various purposes, including adding third-party tracking scripts or pixels to a specific member’s profile page, embedding custom content, such as a Google sheet with weekly events, and adding badges or credentials to premium or sponsored listings (00:01:16).
- This feature is useful for individual member profile pages, and any custom code added to the field will only apply to that specific member, providing opportunities for endless customization, such as adding chatbots or live chat for the member’s business (00:01:57).
- The “Quickedit” option provides instant access to change various aspects of a member’s profile, including adding custom CSS for an individual member’s profile page, and the custom footer code is the second option in the “Advanced Options” tab (00:03:04).
- The custom footer code field can accommodate a wide range of customizations, including JavaScript, embed code, CSS, and direct content, which will display underneath the member’s profile in the footer area (00:03:40).
2) Member Internal Admin Notes (00:03:53)
- The internal admin notes feature allows website admins to add private notes to individual members, which are only visible on the back end, and can be used to keep track of special requests, payment arrangements, or application processes (00:03:53).
- To add internal notes, admins can scroll down to the internal admin notes section in the quick edit section, paste in any plain text, and save the changes, which can then be viewed in the my member section or when clicking on an individual member’s info (00:04:20).
- The internal notes are not permanent and can be updated or edited as needed, providing a useful way to keep track of information about individual members over time, such as application or review processes, complaints, or feedback (00:04:41).
- This feature is also helpful for streamlining internal team communication among multiple admins, allowing them to keep each other informed about member applications, reviews, or special requests (00:05:42).
- A demo of the feature shows how to leave an internal note, including adding a date and a message, such as “customer wanted to cancel” or “influencer gets free premium plan for life”, and how other staff members can edit or add to these notes (00:06:34).
- The internal admin notes feature is particularly useful for websites that are heavy on customer service and support, providing a way to keep records of special requests, refunds, cancellations, or freebies handed out to members (00:07:39).
3) Manually Update Member Credit Card (00:07:52)
- Manually updating a member’s credit card from the admin area is a simple process that can be done through the actions drop-down menu for individual members, allowing administrators to update the name on the card, card number, expiration date, and security code (00:07:59).
- This feature is beneficial for customer service, as it enables administrators to help members update expired or failed payment methods, and it can be done with just a few clicks from the backend admin area without needing to log into the member’s account (00:08:40).
- Members can always update their own billing information from within their member account, but administrators can also take care of this for them to prevent interruptions in their membership and ensure on-time payments (00:09:21).
- Administrators can update a member’s credit card information over the phone if the member is comfortable providing their credit card details, and this can be done in a few clicks from the admin area (00:08:57).
- This feature is also useful for directory models where site owners actively call their free members to welcome them to the site, ask about their motivations for joining, and potentially upsell them to a premium listing (00:10:08).
- There are two places in the admin area where administrators can update a member’s credit card information: on the member’s individual page in the admin area under transactions, and on the search members page through the quick edit feature (00:10:50).
- Updating a member’s credit card information can be done by clicking on the “cc info” link or through the quick edit feature, which brings up a popup where administrators can add or update the member’s credit card details (00:11:03).
